HHVAT installs advanced Telescope Mirror Coater for PRL in Mount Abu
The 2.5m Telescopic Mirror Coater efficiently applies aluminium coating for crucial telescope mirrors at Gurushikhar Peak, Mount Abu, Rajasthan, for the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), a unit of the Department of Space, Government of India.
HHV Advanced Technologies (HHVAT), a subsidiary of the Bengaluru-based HHV group, specialising in vacuum science and optics applications, has successfully installed a 2.5m Telescopic Mirror Coater (TMC) at Gurushikhar Peak, Mount Abu, Rajasthan, India.
According to Prasanth Sakhamuri, Managing Director of HHVAT, astronomical telescopic mirrors coaters require a technologically advanced high vacuum equipment design. HHVAT has been globally recognised as a trusted supplier of vacuum coaters for telescopic mirrors, demonstrating its capabilities at various locations, including demanding high altitudes of about 14,800 feet.
The innovative TMC, designed for the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), incorporates highest safety controls, modular design for easy transportation, earthquake resistance, and in-situ monitoring cameras, ensuring a smooth and debris-free aluminium coating process.
HHVAT’s notable contributions extend beyond the Indian boundaries, serving organisations such as the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences, and the Observatory of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute, Moscow State University, Russian Federation.
