Degassing, Evacuation and Gas Filling System

HHV has designed and built a Degassing, evacuation and Gas Filling system for a defence establishment.


HHV has designed and built a Degassing, evacuation and Gas Filling system .  This is used in the manufacture of gas filled switches which are to operate devises in micro seconds.  These switches are used for various applications.

The salient features of the system are:

  • The heating muffle with a blower motor for convection heating to heat the job to a temperature of 350oC and to achieve close temperature uniformity with a facility for lifting and lowering by a hydraulic lifting arrangement.
  • Turbo pump based vacuum pumping system with a dry backing pump with precision valves and fittings to achieve a high ultimate vacuum of 1 x 10-7 m.bar or better in the device.
  • A specially designed gas filling system consisting of gas cylinders of helium, argon and nitrogen with a gas mixing manifold to mix gases in the required partial pressure ratio using capacitance manometers with all leak tight valves and fittings.
  • A residual gas analyzer is used in the system to measure the purity of gases mixed in the mixing manifold before the gas is filled in the device after suitable degassing and evacuation.
  • State of art control instrumentation for complete automation of the degassing, evacuation and gas filling process.
