Physical vapor deposition (PVD) system for tool coating and decorative applications
Decorative coting and wear resistant coating using physical vapour depositin is becoming the order of the day. This PVD deposition is now replacing chemical electro plating for both wear resistant and decorative applications. Chemical Electro plating has serious environmental consequences and in today's world it os becoming an univiable option. In addition, decorative coating using PVD achieves the same luster, brightness and can be done at substantially lower cost in addition to it being for more durable.
HHV has designed, developed and built a state of art PVD deposition system specially designed for decorative coatings of watch cases, watch straps, spectacle frames, pen barrels, plumbing fittings etc., the system is highly robust in nature and ergonomically designed for convenience of production and operation.
The system is designed with each door being mounted with two magnetron cathodes and the chamber has the 5th cathode for mounting the gold deposition magnetron. The process over all involve reactive deposition of Titanium Nitride by magnetron sputtering which can give an ultimate colour over its total deposition area and it will be followed by a gold deposition.
The system incorporates a job heating provision and rotary jigs, which are further mounted with satellite spools. The jigging can be designed to suit any component that is required to be coated and the operational area of the chamber is 1000 mm in dia and 1150 mm in height. The system is fitted with 3 independent gas lines, which are controlled, by mass flow controllers and capacitance manometers. This provides flexible for both Nitride deposition and carbo nitride deposition.
The system is fully automated with the coating operation and the vacuum cycle being totally controlled through a PLC and a computerized SCADA operation. The system can be specifically configured and adapted for special applications and mass production of either metal or plastic and HHV offers this technology along with the hardware. HHV also provides continuous support for development of process and optimization of fixtures
